As a Loss Prevention Engineer for a drilling
contractor, Gordon Hanna realised that
using differing processes to cure common problems
or adverse Climate in a Safety Management
System often caused more problems as
several different providers/consultancies had
to be used as each had personal expertise in
a given field.
The need to offer consistency, accuracy and
value for money led to the re-development of
his Risk Assessment Video Evaluation System
(RAVES) into the Oil & Gas industry.
In 2006 TGPL’s RAVES process was
recommended by the Health and Safety
Executive to a company under an improvement
notice. They were impressed by the fact that
this process is:
- Run at the worksite.
- Reviews all your documentation.
- Involves the employees in construction of the safety standards.
- Provides coaching for Management, Supervisors & Crews alike.
- Identifies and captures hazards and required controls.
- Leaves a permanent record of how to do the task safely.
